Natalie Portman is an Israeli-American actress, director, and producer born on June 9, 1981, in Jerusalem, Israel. She moved to the United States at a young age and grew up in Long Island, New York.
She began acting as a teenager and gained early recognition for her breakout role in Léon: The Professional (1994), where she played a young girl taken in by a hitman. From there, she quickly became known for her intelligence, emotional depth, and strong screen presence.
Portman achieved global fame as Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, beginning with The Phantom Menace (1999). She later expanded her career into more mature and critically acclaimed roles, including Closer (2004), which earned her an Academy Award nomination.
