The Walking Dead
Synopsis
The Walking Dead is a post-apocalyptic drama series based on the comic books by Robert Kirkman. The story begins after a zombie outbreak — called the “walker” apocalypse — destroys modern society. Sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes wakes from a coma to find the world overrun by the dead and sets out to find his family.
As Rick joins a group of survivors, the series becomes less about zombies and more about how people change when civilization collapses. The group travels through ruined cities, forests, farms, and isolated communities, constantly facing threats from both walkers and dangerous human factions. Along the way, characters such as Daryl Dixon, Carol Peletier, Michonne, and Negan become central to the story.
The show explores survival, morality, leadership, loss, and the question of what it means to remain human in a brutal world. Alliances are formed and broken as survivors build communities and fight to protect them from hostile groups like the Governor’s Woodbury settlement and the Saviors.
Over its long run, the series evolved from a survival horror story into a larger saga about rebuilding society after catastrophe. While known for its intense violence and emotional deaths, it is ultimately a character-driven story about hope, resilience, and the bonds people create during extreme hardship.
